Brock Heger Makes History With Polaris RZR Factory Racing Vegas-to-Reno Win

Polaris RZR Factory Racing can finally cross Vegas-to-Reno off its list.

Brock Heger powered the No. T96 RZR Pro R Factory to the UTV Overall victory at the 2026 Vegas-to-Reno, delivering the factory team its first win at the legendary desert race. But Heger didn’t just beat the UTV field. He finished an incredible seventh overall among all four-wheel vehicles, putting the RZR ahead of the majority of the Unlimited trucks competing across the Nevada desert.

It was a historic performance in an equally historic edition of the race.

For the first time in Vegas-to-Reno’s 30-year history, competitors tackled the 505-mile course in reverse as “The Other Way,” adding another variable to one of the toughest races on the desert racing calendar.

505 Miles and a Historic Victory

Heger completed the 505-mile race in 7 hours, 51 minutes and 29 seconds, taking the UTV Pro Overall victory by nearly four minutes.

His seventh-place finish in the overall four-wheel standings was arguably just as impressive.

Vegas-to-Reno brings out some of the fastest Unlimited trucks in desert racing, machines with significantly more horsepower and outright speed than a UTV. Yet Heger managed to put the RZR Pro R Factory ahead of most of them by the time corrected times were finalized.

For a race Polaris RZR Factory Racing had yet to win, it was a statement performance.

“Vegas-to-Reno has been one of those races we’ve wanted since this team started, so to finally get it done is huge,” Heger said. “This race is incredibly demanding, and over the 500 miles there are so many opportunities for something to go wrong.”

Instead, Heger said the RZR Pro R Factory ran flawlessly and credited the team with giving him everything needed to get the job done.

“To get the win and finish seventh overall against all trucks makes this one special,” he added.

Heger Takes Control of the UTV Race

The weekend started with Heger qualifying second, missing the top qualifying position by just over half a second.

Once the race started, it didn’t take long for the No. T96 to move to the front of the UTV field.

Heger battled high-speed desert sections, rocks, dust and extreme Nevada heat while adapting to the reversed course. Through it all, he continued building his advantage on corrected time.

At one point, Heger had stretched his lead to more than eight minutes.

In a 505-mile race where a flat tire, mechanical issue or navigation mistake can erase hours of preparation, Heger and the RZR Pro R Factory delivered the combination of speed and consistency needed to stay at the front.

When the dust settled, Heger had secured the UTV Pro Overall victory by nearly four minutes.

Seventh Overall Against the Trucks

Winning UTV Pro was the goal. Finishing seventh overall made the performance even more significant.

Heger’s 7:51:29 finishing time put the No. T96 inside the top 10 of the complete four-wheel field, mixing a UTV into a leaderboard filled with high-powered Unlimited trucks and other purpose-built desert race vehicles.

“Winning Vegas-to-Reno for the first time is an incredible milestone for Polaris and this team, but what Brock accomplished against the entire four-wheeled field makes this performance even more impressive,” said Alex Scheuerell, Polaris’ Director of Off-Road Motorsports.

Scheuerell pointed specifically to Heger’s ability to compete against the Unlimited Trophy Trucks as evidence of the performance of the driver, team and RZR Pro R Factory.

“This is one of those performances everyone at Polaris is extremely proud of,” Scheuerell said.

Polaris Puts Six RZRs Inside the UTV Pro Top 10

The No. T96 wasn’t the only Polaris to have a strong showing at Vegas-to-Reno.

Polaris machines claimed six of the top 10 positions in the UTV Pro Overall standings, giving the brand significant representation at the front of the category.

RZR Factory Racing teammate Ethan Groom also brought the No. T74 RZR Pro R Factory home with a fifth-place UTV Pro finish, adding another strong result for the factory program.

The performance further demonstrated the RZR Pro R platform’s ability to survive hundreds of miles of high-speed desert racing while remaining competitive at the front of the field.

Another Major Win for Heger and RZR Factory Racing

Vegas-to-Reno adds another major off-road victory to what has become an impressive run for Heger and Polaris RZR Factory Racing.

This one, however, fills an important gap in the team’s resume.

Vegas-to-Reno has long been one of North America’s signature desert races, and until 2026, the RZR Factory Racing program had yet to put an overall UTV victory on the board.

Heger changed that with 505 miles of speed, consistency and reliability.

And doing it while finishing seventh overall only made the victory more memorable.

Next Stop: Baja

There won’t be much time for Polaris RZR Factory Racing to celebrate.

The team will head south of the border next for the Baja 400, September 8-13, where it will look to carry its Vegas-to-Reno momentum into the next round of the SCORE Desert Series.

For now, one of the few major desert races missing from the team’s list of accomplishments is missing no more.

Brock Heger and Polaris RZR Factory Racing are officially Vegas-to-Reno winners.
